What place on campus best reflects your experiences at
UCLA and why? Danielle Jackson Graduate
Student The Anderson School at UCLA “For undergrad, it was
the sculpture garden because I used to hang out there and read
between classes on the grass. It was just relaxing. For grad, it is
(Marion Anderson Courtyard) … You hardly ever leave this
courtyard.” Diego Seglin Fifth-year Marine
Biology “I’ll probably remember the sculpture garden.
Since my freshman year, I used to sit out there and take a nap on
the grass. It’s not South Campus; it’s peaceful and
quiet … people smile over there.” Kevin
Cho Fourth-year Mathematics/Applied Science “The
Bombshelter. I’m a math major so I mostly hang out in South
Campus … The first time I heard about it was at orientation. The
counselor told us it was a real bombshelter for professors. I
believed that for two quarters.” Don
Portocarrero Fourth-year Psychobiology “The
Biomedical Library because I spent countless nights studying there.
It’s so quiet in the library, you could hear a pin drop. What
I like most is you get to see doctors around doing research and you
think, “˜That’s going to be me someday.'”
Johny Makhijani Fourth-year Economics
“Ackerman Grand Ballroom because I’m on the UCLA
Bhangra Team. Every year we throw a Bhangra competition called
Bruin Bhangra, and all the hard work that you put into it is all
seen in AGB.” Natasha Saelua Fourth-year
History “The Men’s Gym because it’s where I did a
lot of my work at UCLA ““ late-night meetings, working extra
hours, living, eating and sleeping there … It’s 7 in the
morning and your proposal is due in two hours and you haven’t
brushed your teeth, and you’re like, “˜you’re
still wearing the same clothes you wore yesterday.'”
