Bruins Rank 12th in Coaches Poll The UCLA
men’s basketball team was ranked No. 12 in Thursday’s
Preseason ESPN/USA Today poll. The Bruins finished last season No.
20 after falling to Missouri in the regional semifinals of the 2002
NCAA tournament. Arizona was ranked No. 1 overall, while Oregon
checked in at No. 9. No other team from the Pac-10 received votes
from the 31 men’s basketball coaches from across the
nation.

Greco Named Preseason All Pac-10 Senior guard
Michelle Greco was named to the 2002-03 Preseason All-Pac-10
conference women’s basketball team, Wednesday. Greco led the
conference in scoring, in the 1999-2000 campaign, earning her a
spot on the 2001 Preseason team as well. But due to a history of
mild concussions, Greco did not compete in conference play last
year. Among the list of players that are joining Greco, are Ebony
Hoffman of USC, Loree Payne of Washington, Nicole Powell of
Stanford and Shaquala Williams of Oregon. The media tabbed the
Bruins to finish seventh in the Pac-10, while Stanford was the
unanimous choice to repeat as conference champion. Notes compiled
by Daily Bruin Reporter Adam Titcher.
