Before UCLA takes on No. 19 Utah this weekend at the Rose Bowl, Daily Bruin Sports looks back at some of the best moments from past homecoming games.
The UCLA marching band performed at halftime at the 2004 homecoming game against Stanford. The Bruins dominated the game, winning 21-0 behind Maurice Jones Drew’s two touchdowns.
In 2005, Quarterback Drew Olson led UCLA past Oregon State 51-28. Olson tied Cade McNown’s UCLA record of five scoring passes in one game.
The student section roared in approval as the then-No.8 Bruins ran past the Beavers to stay undefeated. They finished 2005 10-2 overall with a bowl win.
The 2007 Bruins stayed undefeated in conference play after upsetting then-No.10 Cal 30-21. Kahlil Bell led the team with 142 rushing yards on 22 carries.
With the win over the Bears, the Bruins started conference play 4-0 but would go on to drop their next three games and finished the season 6-7.
The Bruins’ victory was their fifth-consecutive win over Stanford and Jim Harbaugh and their sixth-straight win at the Rose Bowl with coach Rick Neuheisel’s first season at the helm.
In 2009, UCLA ended their five-game losing streak with a one-point win over the Washington Huskies. The Bruins won 24-23 after making a late defensive stand, intercepting the pass in the final minute.
Harkey celebrated with teammates after the Bruins won their first conference game of 2009 and ended a seven-game losing skid.
The UCLA student section cheered as the Bruins ran past the Cal Bears 31-14. Freshman safety Tevin McDonald had a career-high three interceptions.
In the 2012 homecoming game, then-No. 25 Bruins demolished the Wildcats 66-10 to move into first place in the Pac-12 South. Running back Johnathan Franklin rushed for 162 yards to become UCLA’s career rushing leader.
Members of the UCLA spirit squad stood for the national anthem before the game against Arizona. Redshirt freshman Brett Hundley passed for 288 yards and three touchdowns in his first homecoming game as a starter.
Hundley and Devin Fuller helped the Bruins past the Buffs in 2013 with a combined five touchdowns. UCLA won 45-23 to end their two-game losing streak.
Hundley rushed and threw for four touchdowns as the then-No. 17 Bruins put away the Buffs in 2013. That afternoon, Colorado won the opening coin toss for the first time in eight games before losing 45-23.
Running back Paul Perkins became the 13th Bruin to reach the 1000-yard mark in a 17-7 win over Arizona in 2014. He rushed for 78 yards on 21 carries.
