UCPD reported a grand theft of approximately $2,000 worth of items in Sproul Cove on Sunday.

A UCLA student told UCPD that a suitcase of their belongings was stolen from a common lounge between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., said Jeffrey Chobanian, the captain of the UCPD operations bureau, in an emailed statement. The allegedly stolen items included a laptop, makeup and clothing that totaled between $1,900 and $2,000, he added in the statement.

Chobanian said no injuries or weapons were involved in the theft and that it took place while the student was outside of the common area.

No suspects have been identified, he added in the statement. The victim only requested documentation of the theft, Chobanian said, and no charges are being pursued.

Chobanian said in an emailed statement to never leave property unattended, even briefly. If property is stolen, he added, students should file a police report.
