Transit enthusiasts and event organizers celebrated Los Angeles Metro’s grand opening of three new stations that extend the D-Line to connect downtown LA to Beverly Hills on Friday. Before the extension, the D-Line ended in Koreatown.
Welcomed by live music and free food from neighborhood favorites, hundreds of community members dressed in purple attire matching the D-Line color and traveled to the new stations along Wilshire Blvd. The new extension serves to connect local communities to nearby art museums and schools, Mayor Karen Bass said.
The D-Line’s extension contributes to LA Metro’s Twenty-Eight by ’28 Initiative, finishing 28 projects in preparation for the 2028 Olympic Games.
