Pie lovers congregate at Good Food Pie Contest

Hundreds of foodies scraped sugar-soaked pie crumbs from paper plates Wilson Plaza Sunday for the seventh annual Good Food Pie Contest. Q&A: UCLA alumnus discusses upcoming novel, Japanese culture

Alex Austin realized that if the waves became too strong when his sons were surfing, he could do nothing to rescue them. The alumnus said this feeling of paternal terror stuck with him and became a theme weaving through his latest book, “Nakamura Reality.” The thriller novel was completed earlier this year and is dated for publication in February 2016 by the UCLA alumnus and former Daily Bruin contributor. Student’s conceptual pet photography appreciated by thousands online

Jessica Trinh was browsing for greeting cards in Barnes & Noble when she stumbled upon one with a photograph of her own dog. The third-year communication studies student has sold her conceptual pet photography to companies such as Hallmark, and was pleasantly surprised to see her art in the real world. Read more...
