Director Bobby Rodriguez’s UCLA Big Band rehearses for its upcoming performance at today’s Big Band Holiday Concert. Three different ensembles will be featured: Rodriguez’s LatinJazz Big Band, Charley Harrison’s Jazz Orchestra and Kenny Burrell’s Jazz Fusion Ensemble. The event is called a holiday concert, but holiday-themed music will not be played by any of the groups.

After seeing a performance last weekend in tribute of Kenny Burrell and his musical accomplishments, some UCLA student musicians were inspired to emulate the same passion in tonight's Jazz Combo Concert. Read more...

The UCLA Early Music Ensemble, led by conductor and director Lindsey Strand-Polyak, will perform as part of Powell Library’s Music Series.

Third-year ethnomusicology student Julian Cubillos was only 5 years old when his parents enrolled him in guitar lessons, but he quickly developed an interest of his own in punk and jazz. Cubillos said he was first trained in classical music and has taken guitar lessons with guitarist and UCLA lecturer Wolf Marshall. Read more...
