Filmmakers’ class projects to be featured in the Newport Beach Film Festival

Funny faces and a 7-year-old were enough to inspire Justin Perkinson. Playing with his younger cousin while visiting family on the East Coast led to his short film "Spider Fang!" Perkinson's film is one of three master of fine arts students whose short films, which initially began as class projects, will be featured in the Newport Beach Film Festival this week. Simone Legno, a Japanese-inspired artist from Rome and the creator of the internationally distributed Tokidoki brand, will speak tonight in Kerckhoff Grand Salon on how he became both a graphic designer and an entrepreneur. The event was coordinated by the Campus Events Commission’s speakers staff as a part of the CEC speaker series that takes place throughout the year.

Reuben Cox turned a living room into his guitar shop, which is frequented by celebrity musicians. The Old Style Guitar Shop in Silver Lake uses recycled wood from furniture and dumpsters, along with vintage parts, to create eco-friendly guitars from top-quality wood.
