FAST at UCLA Runway 2023

FAST 2023: ‘Haus of Utopia’ materializes Afrofuturism in aesthetic, modern collection

Bisola Amudipe and Chizaram Iwuanyanwu are embellishing the present with the future. For their second Fashion and Student Trends at UCLA collaboration, designers Amudipe, a third-year pre-international development studies student, and Iwuanyanwu, a fourth-year psychobiology student, have curated the collection “Haus of Utopia.” Iwuanyanwu said the line revolves around Afrofuturism, an aesthetic that explores utopian theories, the fantastical and the reclamation of African culture. FAST 2023: Graduating designer duo combines fashion and function for post-apocalyptic society

Ella Schindler and Maxwell Manning are paying homage to the dystopian sci-fi world they love. The annual Fashion and Student Trends runway show is set to kick off Friday at Pauley Pavilion, and designers Schindler, a fourth-year computational and systems biology student, and Manning, a fifth-year aerospace engineering student, have designed a nature-themed dystopian collection, titled “Epilogue,” that they will also model themselves.
