Student’s music career set to scale up with upcoming album

Ten-year-old Sofia Zorian belted the lyrics of her original song “Spies in Disguise” into the bristles of a hairbrush before an imaginary crowd. Zorian, now a fourth-year English student, is in the process of releasing the music video for her debut single, “Feeling,” in November and will launch her first album, “Involved,” in January. Stars Hollow set-up brings ‘Gilmore Girls’ to Dickson Court

Netflix’s revival of the comedy-drama TV show “Gilmore Girls” prompted a recreation of the series’ fictional town of Stars Hollow at UCLA’s own Dickson Court. Fans lined up to take pictures at the iconic gazebo, sip a cup of coffee at Luke’s and walk through Kim’s Antiques in anticipation for the premiere this coming weekend. Read more...

Singer-songwriter Nia Andrews finds voice in work with Lauryn Hill, Solange

Nia Andrews was grinding cardamom pods to make homemade chai tea when Solange Knowles texted her, inviting her to record. The UCLA alumna turned professional singer-songwriter poured her tea into a tumbler and headed to a Los Angeles studio to record the interlude “I Got So Much Magic You Can Have It,” which appears on Knowles’s 2016 album “A Seat at the Table.” Andrews now uses her musical talents to create and perform music of her own.
