UCLA economics department to launch concentrations in undergrad major

Economics students will soon be able to specialize their education by enrolling in a concentration that focuses on a particular goal or academic interest. The economics department is launching concentrations this quarter, which will be optional and consist of sets of suggested upper division courses that students in the department can take to focus on a specific area of economics, according to the department’s website. UCLA alumni launch online platform for sharing Filipino experiences

Conrad Contreras and Mallory Valenzuela named their online forum aimed at connecting Filipino-Americans after Bahay Kubo, a communal stilt house signifying community in Filipino culture. Contreras and Valenzuela, who graduated from UCLA in 2015 and 2013, respectively, launched wearekubo.com, an online content engine, in August. Read more...

Westwood Village Block Party brings local businesses closer to students

Waves of new students entered Westwood Village to roller skate and try food samples at a block party Sunday afternoon. UCLA and the Westwood Village Improvement Association partnered to host the first annual UCLA Westwood Village Block Party as students moved in over the weekend. Read more...
