UCLA Health reneges on announced $5,000 housing stipend to resident physicians

Medical residents at UCLA said they received only a fraction of a $5,000 housing stipend that the David Geffen School of Medicine promised them. Librarians, allies demonstrate for academic freedom amid UCOP negotiations

University of California librarians and their allies marched across campus Wednesday with their mouths taped shut in support of academic freedom for librarians. University Council-American Federation of Teachers, a union that represents UC librarians and non-Senate faculty, held the demonstration during their lunch break between contract negotiation sessions with the University of California Office of the President. Fraternities affected by alcohol ban will hold responsibility for its enforcement

Study finds UCLA’s economic impact of over $11 billion in California

A study found that UCLA generated over $11 billion in economic activity over the 2016-17 fiscal year. Beacon Economics consultancy, an independent consulting firm that conducts economic analyses, published the 2018 UCLA Economic Impact Report, finding that UCLA generated $11.06 billion in economic activity, which considers employment, labor income, taxation and product output.
