UCLA, Duke study finds detailed journalism affects local infrastructure spending
A UCLA and Duke University study found that reading high-information local journalism is correlated with support for funding local infrastructure. The study, conducted by Megan Mullin – a professor of public policy at UCLA – and Andrew Trexler – a doctoral candidate at Duke University – illustrates how local news can contribute positively to the health of infrastructure, said Trexler. LGBTI protections expand as public acceptance grows, Williams Institute finds
Social acceptance correlates strongly with legal protections for LGBTI individuals, according to a new report from the Williams Institute at the UCLA School of Law. Latino Data Hub Action Lab empowers community leaders to create data-driven change

Luskins gift $25M to UCLA Department of History for engagement in major
This post was updated Aug. 25 at 11:22 p.m. The UCLA Department of History has received a gift of $25 million from two alumni. The Department of External Affairs announced July 16 that UCLA alumni Meyer and Renee Luskin donated the gift to the history department, with the couple saying their goal is to expand opportunities for students and for them to engage with history and build greater public appreciation for historical understanding. US-wide study finds state, racial disparities in outcomes of juvenile lifers
A national study offered details on the juvenile lifer population and revealed disparities between states in their resentencing and release rates of minors.
