UCLA research programs hit by EPA cuts amid national changes to climate policy

UCLA researchers and policy experts expressed concerns about the qualifications of new Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lee Zeldin. Since his appointment, Zeldin has overseen the rollback of 31 environmental regulations and has attempted to revise the EPA’s 2009 findings that greenhouse gases endanger public health, according to an EPA press release. ‘Tragic and devastating’: Scientists react to funding cuts for climate research

Newsom says he will aim to combat Trump administration’s tariffs for California

Gov. Gavin Newsom announced April 4 that he will seek trade negotiations with foreign leaders to spare California from retaliatory tariffs. UCLA study finds CalFresh program underused by college students

CalFresh, a federally funded food assistance program, is a largely untapped resource for California college students, a recent UCLA study found. Researchers at the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research and California State University, Fullerton, published a report measuring the impact CalFresh has had on food-insecure students at schools across California. UCLA dermatologist leads initiative to address disparities in LA health care

A UCLA dermatologist called for urgent reforms to the Los Angeles health care system at a presentation April 23. Dr. Reza Babapour, a dermatologist and clinical faculty member at the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, spoke at the event, which was co-hosted by pre-health student organizations, including Community Medicine in LA, Iranian Medical Society, LA Health Volunteers and Bruins Public Health.
