A new set of bills could largely reduce the production of single-use plastic in California by 2030 if passed. Senate Bill 54 and Assembly Bill 1080, collectively called the California Circular Economy and Plastic Pollution Reduction Act, are identical companion bills that aim to reduce single-use packaging and product waste in California by 75% by 2030. Undocumented young adults may continue receiving health care coverage from the state until age 26, according to the governor’s budget report. Gov. Gavin Newsom’s 2019-2020 state budget, which was revised Thursday, stated the budget will allocate $98 million to extend the length of Medi-Cal coverage for young adults between the ages of 19 and 25 regardless of immigration status.
