GSA leaders oppose new tax bill, claim it will harm graduate students

Graduate student leaders are lobbying against a federal tax bill they say would discourage students from pursuing doctoral degrees. A Republican bill passed by the House of Representatives last week treats graduate students’ waived tuition as taxable income, so graduate students will have to pay taxes on income they do not actually earn. United Khmer Students host conference, promote Cambodian culture

Professor speaks about improving lives of indigenous women at UCLA event

An anthropology researcher said at an event Thursday she hopes to improve the lives of indigenous women across the Americas by highlighting their stories. Rosalva Aída Hernández Castillo, a professor at a research center in Mexico City, talked about her findings from researching incarcerated indigenous women at a talk hosted by the UCLA American Indian Studies Center in Bunche Hall.
