Study explains mechanism that may be linked to development of Type 2 diabetes

A UCLA-led study may explain the development of Type 2 diabetes, suggesting potential new methods to treat the condition. Orian Shirihai, a professor of endocrinology and pharmacology at UCLA’s David Geffen School of Medicine, led the research team that found a novel mechanism that may be responsible for driving insulin oversecretion, according to a university press release published Dec. Study unveils new way to predict risk of death for stable heart failure patients

The findings of a UCLA-led study may allow for medical professionals to identify patients with stable heart failure who are at risk. UCLA cardiologist Olujimi Ajijola was the first author of a study that found a new way to detect which patients with “stable” heart failure have a higher risk of dying within one to three years.
