UCLA researchers to study success of online mental health therapy

UCLA researchers will study whether peer support increases the effectiveness of online therapy for patients diagnosed with mild depression, stress and anxiety. The two-year study, conducted by the UCLA Office of Campus and Student Resilience, hopes to identify a more effective way of treating patients with mild depression or anxiety, said Elizabeth Gong-Guy, director of the Office of Campus and Student Resilience. UCLA to establish cancer research center with funds from $250M donation

Napster co-founder Sean Parker donated $250 million to establish a cancer research center at UCLA and five other centers nationwide, UCLA officials announced Wednesday. Parker, chairman of the Parker Foundation, which funds several cancer research organizations, said in a press release he hopes the grant will assist the six cancer research facilities in developing immune therapies for cancer.
