LA Metro discusses costs of Sepulveda Transit Corridor alternatives at May meeting
Los Angeles Metro officials discussed preliminary costs and scheduling for the Sepulveda Transit Corridor Project at a May community meeting Thursday. Los Angeles Metro names new chief to lead in-house police force
This post was updated June 1 at 11:59 p.m. Los Angeles Metro will soon have its first chief of police and emergency management. Metro announced in a May 7 statement that William Scott, who was the San Francisco Police Department’s chief for eight years and worked for LAPD for 27 years, will lead the new Transit Community Public Safety Department. Students to vote on renewal of the Bruin U-Pass in 2025 USAC elections
Students will determine the future of the Bruin U-Pass in the 2025 Undergraduate Students Association Council election. The 2023 Universal Access Transit Pass Referendum, which provides UCLA students with TAP cards for unlimited public transit across Los Angeles County for what was initially $3.30 per quarter, is set to expire in 2026. Distinguished professor emeritus, renowned urban planner Donald Shoup dies at 86
Donald Shoup, a distinguished professor emeritus whose parking reform ideas inspired generations of students and urban planners, died Feb. 6. He was 86. Shoup, who taught in the urban planning department at the Luskin School of Public Affairs, researched the hidden costs of free parking in cities and spent his career advocating to remove mandatory off-street parking requirements. New California law seeks to improve safety by restricting parking in certain areas
A new California law seeking to improve pedestrian safety at intersections officially took effect this January. Assembly Bill No. 413, also known as the “Daylighting to Save Lives” bill, requires parking to be at least 20 feet from marked and unmarked crosswalks to improve visibility for pedestrians and drivers. Metrolink renews free Student Adventure Pass for K-12, college students
