Trial to begin in lawsuit filed by UCLA lecturer against administrators

A UCLA lecturer suing UC administrators for over $22 million will see his case go to trial Tuesday. Gordon Klein, a continuing lecturer in accounting, filed a lawsuit against Antonio Bernardo, the dean of the UCLA Anderson School of Management, and the UC Board of Regents in September 2021. Department of Justice opens investigation for alleged UC employment discrimination

California State Legislature rejects Gov. Gavin Newsom’s proposed UC funding cuts

The California State Legislature rejected Gov. Gavin Newsom’s proposed funding cuts to the UC in its June 9 revision of the state budget. The legislature passed a state budget amounting to $325 billion Friday, rejecting Newsom’s proposed cuts of $129.7 million to the UC. Read more...

Professors express concern over research, programs following federal funding cuts

Professors expressed concern for the future of UCLA’s teaching and research as the Trump administration continues to financially target universities across the country. The Trump administration has revoked federal grants and contracts from six American universities due to their alleged failure to resolve antisemitism on campus and one university for allowing a transgender swimmer to compete for its women’s swim team, according to the Associated Press.
