City discussing making violation of posted rules misdemeanor

The City of Los Angeles will consider a proposal at its meeting Nov. 8 that could criminalize speaking out of turn at city council meetings. The city council’s Public Safety Committee planned to vote on an ordinance last week that would make it illegal to break rules posted on signs in civic buildings, libraries and public parks, but postponed voting on the ordinance until the next city committee meeting. LA Mayor Eric Garcetti announces he will not run for governor in 2018

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti announced Sunday he will not be running for governor of California in 2018. Garcetti, who earlier this year was rumored to run for governor, said in a tweet Sunday he decided he would instead focus on his Los Angeles mayorship and on his family. Read more...

Westwood association discusses revenue, improving infrastructure at annual meeting

Panelists discuss potential Westwood improvements at UCLA event

Los Angeles experts and city officials said students should continue advocating for Westwood issues at a panel Thursday evening. The undergraduate student government office of the external vice president, the Graduate Students Association and Abundant Housing LA, a group that advocates for more housing, held “How Westwood got trapped in time (and what to do about it)” at the UCLA Anderson School of Management.
