Westwood BID’s plan for parklet met with mixed feelings

Westwood Village parking spots may soon get a makeover, if city officials approve an application to install a “parklet” on Kinross Avenue. The proposed parklet is a small extension of the sidewalk onto the street that provides the amenities of a park such as benches, tables and a garden. Read more...

Patrons treat Stan’s Donuts to sweet tribute for 50th anniversary

Rick Ramirez remembered walking down the streets of Westwood nine years ago, distraught over his son’s emergency open-heart surgery, when he came across Stan’s Donuts. Stan’s Donuts celebrates 50th anniversary

Stan’s Donuts in Westwood Village will celebrate its 50th anniversary Saturday morning with discounted donuts and a ceremony. Stan’s Donuts will roll its prices back to what they were 50 years ago – 10 cents apiece – in honor of the anniversary, said Steve Sann, chairman of the Westwood Community Council. Read more...
