United Kingdom-based Pret A Manger coffee shop opens Westwood location

Westwood welcomed a new type of buzz Saturday: Pret A Manger, a United Kingdom-based coffee shop. Pret A Manger, commonly referred to as Pret, is a sandwich and organic coffee chain that has a multitude of items on its menu, including varieties of coffee, grab-and-go sandwiches and baked goods – with vegan and vegetarian options. Former UCLA dentistry student pleads guilty to charges of shooting Jewish victims

Former UCLA School of Dentistry student Jaime Tran agreed to plead guilty Tuesday to all charges related to him shooting two Jewish men in February 2023 as they left religious services.  Tran, who was last enrolled at UCLA in 2018, pled guilty to two counts of hate crimes with intent to kill and two counts of using, carrying and discharging a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence, according to a Tuesday press release from the United States Department of Justice.  Tran is expected to plead guilty to those felony charges in front of U.S. Read more...

Last Bruin Flea of school year hosts variety of vendors, raises money for unhoused

Broxton Avenue came to life Friday as the Bruin Flea hosted its last event of the school year. The monthly flea, held from 3 to 8:30 p.m on the third Friday of each month, featured vendors and activities including henna art, jewelry and clothes. Read more...
