AB 540 causes mixed responses

Having survived homelessness, working multiple jobs and studying through many sleepless nights, Diego Sepulveda risked his hard-fought place at UCLA by openly declaring his undocumented status. After all his work to become a UCLA student, Sepulveda said he owes his education partly to a bill that allows him to pay in-state student fees even though he is undocumented. NEWS BRIEF: Motorcyclists deliver holiday cheer to pediatric patients in Harley toy run

November 21, 2010 – On Sunday morning, motorcyclists spent some time with patients at Mattel Children's Hospital's annual toy run. The event was started 21 years ago and has become an annual tradition for the bikers of the Anaheim-Fullerton Harley Owners Group chapter of Southern California. [1:22]

For the last 21 years, Harley Davidson motorcyclists have ridden their bikes up from Fullerton to the UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital to donate toys to child patients around the holidays. About 400 students participated in Community Service Day last year. At this Saturday’s eighth annual service day, students will volunteer at a variety of organizations, including Children’s Hunger Fund, Tree Musketeers and Kitten Rescue.


Republicans unlikely to pass DREAM Act in lame duck session

On the heels of an extensive Republican victory in the midterm election, there is little hope that a pathway to citizenship for undocumented students will be approved in the near future, two UCLA professors said. LGBT Campus Resource Center joins “It Gets Better” video campaign

Sex columnist Dan Savage has a message for all bullied teenagers: It Gets Better. In response to the recent suicides by teenagers who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender, Savage created the It Gets Better media campaign to give LGBT youths hope that they will have better experiences than the harassment they suffer now and to encourage them not to give up, according to the project's website.
