Members of the California Nurses Association, Committee of Interns and Residents and University Professional and Technical Employees-Communications Workers of America 9119 – which represents healthcare, research and technical professionals – gave speeches calling on the University to address alleged overcrowding issues in the emergency department at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. UCLA sororities hired private security in response to patterns of street harassment on Hilgard Avenue, the Panhellenic Council president said. UCPD received reports of multiple incidents on Hilgard this year, with complaints including trespassing and threats with intent to terrorize, according to published UCPD crime statistics. Three UCLA students are pushing for housing reform in Westwood.
