Editorial: BruinAlert should update UCLA community as situations progress

For the first time this quarter, the Office of Emergency Management successfully used BruinAlert to inform students of potential danger near campus. However, the BruinAlert sent to the student body Thursday regarding the alleged hostage situation on Tiverton Avenue came nearly an hour after the Daily Bruin had already confirmed and tweeted about the incident, and with little clarity.
