Children all over Los Angeles learn in schools adorned with bright murals that UCLA students have painted on hot, sunny Volunteer Days year after year. UCLA’s annual Volunteer Day was created nine years ago as a chancellor’s initiative, said Ashley Love-Smith, interim director of the UCLA Volunteer Center. Read more...

Editorial: Implementing Meatless Mondays would reduce the Hill’s carbon footprint
The environment’s got beef with beef. And UCLA finally seems to be catching on. Last week, the Hill’s Covel Commons dining hall began serving blended burger patties that are 70 percent beef and 30 percent plant matter, such as red beets, red quinoa, onions and mushrooms, in its signature burger.
