UCLA baseball snaps 3-year losing streak against UC Irvine with 5-run first inning

‘Crazy weekend’: UCLA baseball snags win over Maryland in 1st Big Ten series

Tempers flared in College Park, Maryland, when the Bruins’ 5-foot-10, 180-pound Cody Delvecchio shouted and pointed at the Terrapins’ 6-foot-5, 250-pound Alex Calarco. While the UCLA junior right-hander had just struck out the opposing catcher to escape a bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the fifth, what may have been most peculiar about Delvecchio’s aggression is that Calarco already took him yard earlier in the game, and the Bruins were down 4-0. UCLA baseball gears up for 3 games against Maryland, first Big Ten series

The distance between Jackie Robinson Stadium and Husky Ballpark in Seattle, Washington – the Bruins’ longest trip in Pac-12 competition – is about 950 miles. But for its Big Ten debut, UCLA baseball (10-3) will travel around 2,300 miles to face Maryland (7-5) at Bob “Turtle” Smith Stadium in a three-game series beginning Friday and ending Sunday. Ahead of Big Ten play, UCLA baseball to face Michigan in nonconference game

Sixty-four teams qualify for the NCAA tournament every year – with berths awarded to 31 conference champions and 33 teams at-large. The Bruins have missed the cut each of the past two seasons, but if they’re hoping to make it this time around, they’ll either have to win their conference or impress the NCAA Division I Baseball Committee.
