UCLA baseball defeats Utah in first game of series after gaining early lead

In a 3-game series against Utah, UCLA baseball seeks to improve home record

On the mend and back at their home confines, the Bruins will return to conference action after snapping a five-game losing streak. Falling twice to Washington State, UCLA baseball drops to No. 23 in the rankings

A duo of road losses over the weekend extended the Bruins’ losing streak. After snow caused Saturday’s contest to be postponed, No. 23 UCLA baseball (16-8, 6-5 Pac-12) found itself on the back foot for much of the series against Washington State (18-9, 5-6), falling short by four runs in both Friday’s and Sunday’s matchups. Against Washington, UCLA baseball drops 1st Pac-12 series of the season

Sunny, with a slight breeze and a packed crowd. The atmosphere at Jackie Robinson Stadium was a showcase of Westwood in the spring. However, a purple and gold storm brewed and ultimately poured throughout Sunday afternoon’s contest, leading to 21 hits from Washington (16-6, 4-2 Pac-12) – the highest total the Bruins have conceded in 2023 and the most since their 47-run thriller in the Pac-12 tournament last season.
