‘Finally’: UCLA men’s tennis bests Cal for 1st NCAA super regional spot in 6 years

BERKELEY – Alexander Hoogmartens seemed far from frazzled when he dropped his second set Saturday. After securing the first set against California’s Timofey Stepanov 7-6 (7), the Bruin veteran succumbed to an early deficit in the second stanza, after which he opted to take his foot off the gas – accepting the 6-1 steamroll – and conserve energy for the final set. Narrow semifinal loss to LMU brings UCLA beach volleyball’s season to early end

‘The underdogs’: UCLA women’s tennis sweeps Harvard, seeks win over Vanderbilt

The Ivy League had one team in the NCAA women’s tennis championship at 9 a.m. But less than three hours later, it had none. UCLA women’s tennis (17-8, 10-3 Big Ten) delivered the final blow, opening its NCAA tournament run with a 4-0 sweep over Harvard (15-9, 7-0 Ivy League) at MTSU Tennis Complex in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, on Friday morning.
