After beating Cal State Northridge 83-50, men’s basketball team is ready to begin NIT Season Tip-Off

You couldn't draw up two more different beginnings to a basketball season, not even if you were Pablo Picasso or Vincent van Gogh. A year after being stunned in double overtime by Cal State Fullerton to open the 2009-2010 season, the UCLA men's basketball team hosted Cal State Northridge Friday in the inaugural contest of the 2010-2011 campaign. For women’s volleyball team, improved offense yields weekend sweep of Sun Devils and Wildcats

The No. 10 UCLA women’s volleyball team had yet another successful weekend. It beat the Arizona State Sun Devils in three straight sets on Friday and disposed of the No. 20 Arizona Wildcats in four sets on Saturday to improve its record to 19-7 on the year. The Bruins now have three regular season games remaining.


Men’s soccer defeats San Diego State, 3-1, in regular-season finale, awaits NCAA bracket announcement

Often times when teams aren't able to control every aspect of their destiny, they tend to fail to compete at the highest level. When the California Bears clinched the Pac-10 title with a 3-2 victory against Stanford last week, things could have gone south for UCLA with a lackadaisical effort. "Unfortunately, even though our record is outstanding, we hoped that we could (control our destiny) after Thursday," coach Jorge Salcedo said. But for captain junior Andy Rose, UCLA had more to prove and always something to play for. "Obviously, the fact that we couldn't win the Pac-10 was in the back of our mind, but to be honest, we're just playing for that top seed," he said. With the NCAA Selection Committee revealing the seedings this afternoon, UCLA could have easily overlooked a San Diego State team that has given the Bruins some trouble in the past. Read more...

Sophomore Josh Samuels and the No. 4 UCLA men’s water polo team finished their regular season on a high note by beating Pepperdine 13-8 at Spieker Aquatics Center on Saturday and inching past UC Santa Barbara 9-8 on the road Sunday. The Bruins won’t play again until the MPSF Tournament begins Nov. 26 at Stanford.


Honey Cuts

The offseason began earlier than usual for UCLA in 2010, but "˜offseason' may not be the appropriate term for the period between March and late September, especially for one Bruin who was not afforded the luxury one year ago.
