A family in Cameroon shares its experience of living through the tragic loss of its son and brother, Guy Alang-Ntang

October 11, 2010 "”mdash; The Daily Bruin reporting project, “An Outside Shot,” includes articles, photos and multimedia capturing the basketball community in Yaoundé, Cameroon. Two former UCLA forwards, Alfred Aboya and Luc Richard Mbah a Moute, hail from the West African capital city, where basketball is gradually taking over as a top sport.

Six years ago, Yaoundé native Guy Alang-Ntang left Cameroon to play basketball at an American high school. Three years later, he suffered from a fatal heart attack on the court. Members of Alang-Ntang’s family share their memories of him, and their experiences in coping with his death. [3:08]

The UCLA men’s basketball team held its annual Media Day on Wednesday at Pauley Pavilion. The 2010-2011 squad ““ which is coming off of a season with the worst UCLA record since 2004 ““ features four new scholarship players and no seniors.
