UCLA graduate student, team discover that asteroid is actually a protoplanet

Britney Schmidt, a graduate student in the department of earth and space sciences, published a paper in the Oct. 9 issue of “Science” arguing that 2 Pallas is actually a protoplanet instead of an asteroid, as previously believed.
