With the indoor invitationals behind them, the UCLA track and field team opened up its outdoor season this past weekend. The Bruins, who according to director Mike Maynard are training through the early season meets in preparation for championship season later in the year, took first place in roughly half of the events that were offered in their dual meet against the Long Beach State 49ers on Saturday. Against stiff competition from No. 4 Oregon and USC, the No. 24 UCLA track and field team posted a myriad of personal bests this weekend. At the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation championships the men’s and women’s teams were able to claim third and fourth overall, respectively. Read more...

For many, the indoor track and field season will conclude this weekend. For others, they’ll be trying to make it last another two weeks.
