UCLA track and field makes an impact at the USA Track and Field Junior/Senior National Championships as throwers Derek Eager and Alec Faldermeyer take first in their events, qualify for Pan American Championships

Women’s track and field shows a fierce fight in the Preliminary Round for the NCAA Championships

This weekend the Bruins were in Eugene, Ore. competing in the NCAA Preliminary Round. For some record-holding UCLA athletes, this competition was the last time they would proudly don their wearied sneakers as Bruins, while for others it was but a launchpad to the NCAA Championships and with it, UCLA history. Senior sprinter Ashlea McLaughlin punched her ticket to the NCAA Championships for the first time in her career as an individual competitor, placing ninth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 53.43 seconds.

Senior distance runner Cory Primm won the 800 meters at the Pac-10 Championships, the first conference title of his career. Overall, the Bruins finished in a three-way tie for third with Arizona State and USC.
