UCLA women’s basketball develops initiative after challenge from coach

Coach Cori Close stood at half-court, her eyes scanning the players waiting in position to practice zone defense strategy. Rather than continue to watch her team run the simulated play half-heartedly, Close walked off the court, took her bags and prematurely exited Wednesday’s practice through the northwest wing of Pauley Pavilion with the rest of the coaching staff. Women’s basketball’s Cori Close carries forward Coach Wooden’s legacy at UCLA

Twenty-one years ago, in the spring of 1994, coach Cori Close, then the restricted-earnings coach for the UCLA women’s basketball team, was not prepared. Women’s basketball steps up defense in wins against Colorado, Utah

Women’s basketball looks to snap losing streak with Colorado win

The UCLA women’s basketball team is on the verge of eclipsing a season high Friday night – and that’s not a good thing. UCLA (8-13, 4-6 Pac-12) has lost four games in a row and a loss Friday in Pauley Pavilion against Colorado (10-11, 3-7) would mean a new season-high losing streak. Read more...
