Prosthetic ‘BairClaw’ helps amputees ‘touch’

Veronica Santos is an associate professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering and director of the UCLA biomechatronics laboratory. Her team is working on developing the “BairClaw,” a robot hand testbed. They are using this to study how humans interact with objects and hope to develop ways to provide amputees with a conscious perception of touch.
