$5 billion science research bond clears California Assembly committee
The California Assembly Appropriations Committee voted Thursday to advance a UC-sponsored bond measure that would fund scientific research across the state. The California Science and Health Research Bond Act – or Senate Bill 895 – would create the California Foundation for Science and Health Research to award $5 billion in grants and loans to public and private research institutions, including UC campuses. UCPD investigating alleged drug-facilitated aggravated assault on Gayley
UCPD is investigating an alleged drug-facilitated aggravated assault that occurred on Gayley Avenue on Wednesday. A UCLA student attended a party on the 600 block of Gayley Avenue – where UCLA’s fraternities are located – and saw someone add an unidentified powder to his drink before he was pressured to drink it, according to a Thursday UCPD Clery Timely Warning alert. UCPD does not know the identity of the perpetrator and if they are affiliated with UCLA, said Richard Mejia, the director of emergency communications and information, in an email statement.
