Israeli and U.S. veterans share experiences in ‘Night of Unity’ panel

Road closures to accompany President Barack Obama in Westwood

New graduate class built around Westwood urban planning

A new graduate class will study Westwood Village’s urban planning and propose potential improvements to the neighborhood’s specific plan. Architect John Kaliski’s class at the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs will explore the existing Westwood Village Specific Plan, which regulates land use and development design criteria in the Village, and prepare recommendations for the Westwood Village Improvement Association, also known as the BID. UCLA, NASA researchers use fungi, satellites to predict climate change

UCLA and NASA researchers can use satellite images to predict how climate change may affect forest habitats. Scientists can use fungi to predict where forests are more or less likely to adapt to and survive a warming climate, said Joshua Fisher, lead UCLA researcher. Read more...

UCLA grant funds student-run community enrichment projects

Kareem Elzein said a lack of funding and proper resources are key disadvantages of social justice projects. To alleviate the issue, Elzein, who was a community organizer for 10 years, worked with four other graduate students to found the Bruin Excellence and Student Transformation Grant Program, or BEST.
