Groups argue that GSA funding restriction did not defy First Amendment

Several legal groups and sponsors wrote a letter to UCLA Wednesday, defending the graduate student government against claims it violated students’ First Amendment rights. The American Center for Law and Justice, a conservative legal advocacy organization, the Zionist Organization of America and StandWithUs, pro-Israel organizations, and the Lawfare Project wrote the letter to Chancellor Gene Block in response to accusations by three other legal groups and the Students for Justice in Palestine. Fire breaks out on Midvale Avenue following motorcycle collision

A motorcycle caught fire after it collided with a car in the North Village Thursday afternoon. Firefighters received a call at 3:48 p.m. about a collision between a motorcycle and a car on Midvale Avenue near Ophir Drive, in which the motorcycle caught on fire, said Margaret Stewart, a Los Angeles Fire Department spokesperson. Chancellor Gene Block meets with the Daily Bruin editorial board every quarter to discuss issues affecting campus and to explain administrative policies. At their meeting on Tuesday, Block, who was joined by Vice Chancellor Jerry Kang, spoke about campus climate issues, UCLA’s purchase of the Occidental Petroleum Building, the Centennial Campaign and the UCLA Grand Challenges.
