EmpowHer event encourages women to pursue science careers
Children passed around a preserved brain in a ziplocked bag after a lesson on the organ's functional geography Tuesday during "EmpowHer STEM Day," an educational event aimed at teaching girls about careers in science and math. "I've been waiting my whole life for this!" said Grecia, a thirteen year old, as she held the brain, garnering laughs from her peers and adults. She said seeing the brain helped her understand how its functions are generally divided by area, and touching it kept her attention. Read more...

Calif. senate passes bill on four-year degrees at CCCs
A bill that would allow certain California community colleges to grant four-year degrees passed unanimously in the California State Senate Tuesday. Community colleges are currently allowed to grant two-year associate degrees, but existing California law does not allow community colleges to instruct students beyond the second-year college curriculum. Sexperts Committee to discuss benefits of self pleasure
An undergraduate student government student wellness commission committee and the Gamma Rho Lambda – Zeta chapter at UCLA are co-hosting a masturbation workshop Wednesday night. The goal of the “Finals Can Wait, Masturbate!” workshop is to educate students about self pleasure and break stigmas about masturbating and having sex for pleasure, said Savannah Badalich, the Undergraduate Students Association Council student wellness commissioner.
