Jody Heymann began to better understand the relationship between working conditions and health while working in a fishery in Tanzania as a Peace Corps volunteer. “I met families where a parent had recurrent malaria, and they were not well enough to take care of their kids,” she said. Read more...

Officials are investigating a series of arsons that occurred in the residential area of Westwood’s North Village this month. The Los Angeles Fire Department Arson Unit is investigating two incidents at 650 Midvale Ave., one on Monday and one on Saturday of this week, according to a UCPD statement released today.
