UCLA to increase on-campus capacity of restaurants, gyms and social gatherings

This post was updated May 23 at 5:26 p.m. UCLA will increase the capacity of on-campus restaurants, gyms and gatherings effective immediately after LA County moved into the yellow tier in early May, administrators announced Friday.  The university will increase indoor capacity for on-campus restaurants and gyms and implement new cleaning protocols after the county issued new public health guidelines that loosened COVID-19 restrictions, said Michael Beck and Michael Meranze, co-chairs of the COVID-19 Response and Recovery Task Force.  On-campus restaurants are now able to operate indoors at 50% capacity, where up to six vaccinated people are allowed to sit at the same table.  Gyms, including the Kinross Recreation Center, will operate at 50% capacity. Protesters gather in response to Israeli-Palestinian violence

Around 100 individuals gathered near the Wilshire Federal Building on Sunday in protest of the recent Israeli-Palestinian conflict, supporting either Israel or Palestinians. Demonstrators supporting Israel began gathering on the south side of the intersection of Wilshire Boulevard and Veteran Avenue on Sunday afternoon. Read more...
