A married pair of UCLA professors posthumously left the university nearly $9 million that will go toward scholarships, department chairs and seminars. Bernice Wenzel and Wendell Jeffrey, two married psychology professors at UCLA who passed away in 2018 and 2015, respectively, donated $8.7 million to UCLA, said Lynn Andrews, the professors’ niece, in an emailed statement. UCLA and University of California researchers will lead a team that will advise California officials on a COVID-19 vaccine distribution plan. California Gov. Gavin Newsom named a Scientific Safety Review Workgroup in a press release Monday, which will help California government officials vet a COVID-19 vaccine when it is available and help officials develop a plan to distribute the vaccine.
