Man charged with assault on pro-Palestine protesters in encampment takes plea deal

A counter-protester charged with assaulting protesters at UCLA’s Palestine solidarity encampment in spring 2024 accepted a plea deal July 7. Malachi Marlan-Librett, who graduated from UC Santa Cruz in 2019 and then attended a UCLA film program, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon, battery and a hate crime after he allegedly assaulted, followed and yelled racial epithets at pro-Palestine protesters in the encampment.
