Resident physicians, fellows and interns won health benefits and union access Wednesday night in their most recent negotiating session with UCLA administration. After 10 months of bargaining with UCLA Health, the administration and residents reached a tentative agreement that includes wage and housing stipend increases, sustained health benefits until 2021 and unrestricted union access in the hospital, said Caleb Williams, a resident physician, in an email statement. A UCLA alumna has been appointed to the University of California Board of Regents, according to an August 9 press release from the governor’s office. Janet Reilly, who is a co-founder and board president of a free volunteer-based health clinic called Clinic by the Bay, will fill the position on the board previously held by Ellen Tauscher, who died in April.
