A UCLA study found that psychiatric patients respond positively to the therapeutic effects of gardening. Gardening proved to have significant effects on patients undergoing treatment in a psychiatric setting at UCLA’s Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital, according to a study published in fall. Southeast Asian student groups at UCLA and across the nation called attention to rising deportation rates of Southeast Asian Americans under President Donald Trump’s administration. The Asian Pacific Coalition at UCLA, several of its member organizations and Southeast Asian student groups nationwide held a “week of action” last week to raise awareness about the issue. A UCLA student developed an application that allows diabetic patients to monitor their glucose levels on their phones. Bryan Chiang, a first-year computer science student, created EasyGlucose, a mobile application designed to monitor diabetic patients’ glucose levels using a picture of their eye taken on their smartphone.
