UC Berkeley chancellor to resign amid criticism from students, faculty
University of California, Berkeley’s chancellor announced Tuesday he plans to resign as soon as the campus finds a successor. Nicholas Dirks did not give specific reasons for his resignations in his announcement to students, faculty and staff. Read more...

UCLA named No. 12 overall in 2016 international ranking
UCLA was ranked the second-best public university in the U.S. by an international ranking Monday. The Academic Ranking of World Universities, which has been published since 2003, also ranked UCLA 12th in the world among 500 universities. Read more...

Housing office prepared for increased enrollment in coming years
UCLA Housing officials said they are prepared to house the additional 750 freshman and transfer students that will enroll this fall without additional beds. New residential halls built in recent years and completed renovations of existing halls have opened room to house the new students. Read more...

Professor names new species of fish in honor of late UCLA student
Kristina Louie, a student researcher who died in 2004, gave a small fish species its scientific name – the Eucyclogobius kristinae. Ecology and evolutionary biology professor David Jacobs decided to honor Louie by naming the fish after her because of her dedication to studying it as a graduate student. Read more...
