Professor emeritus remembered for legacy of Asian-American scholarship

Don T. Nakanishi, director emeritus of the UCLA Asian American Studies Center, died of cardiorespiratory arrest March 21 in Los Angeles. He was 66. Nakanishi was a professor at UCLA for 35 years and was the director of the UCLA Asian American Studies Center from 1990 to 2010. Read more...

UC officials announce new fellowships to fund education programs

New University of California fellowships will fund graduate-level education programs for students who aim to teach in low-income public schools, UC officials announced Tuesday. The President’s Educator Fellowships will award $320,000 to UCLA and eight other UC campuses with educator programs for the 2016-2017 academic year, according to a UC Office of the President press release.
