Beverly Hills school district files lawsuit to halt Purple Line extension

The Beverly Hills Unified School District filed a lawsuit against the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority on Friday to halt Purple Line extension’s construction. The district is concerned that construction could potentially harm Beverly Hills High School and its students’ health and safety and is calling on Metro to properly analyze the environmental impacts of the Purple Line extension before construction begins, according to a press release. Law school opens clinic to provide free documentary film law assistance

Independent documentary filmmakers can now receive free legal assistance from a new clinic at the UCLA School of Law. The Documentary Film Legal Clinic, which launched this month as part of the Ziffren Center for Media, Entertainment, Technology and Sports Law, helps documentary filmmakers with legal issues they face, including copyright law and public records access. UCLA Transportation partners with uberPOOL to create flat-rate promotion

Students can travel anywhere within a five-mile radius from campus for a flat rate of $5.99 starting Thursday. To use the service, students will need to register or update their Uber accounts with their UCLA emails and apply a promotion code, which is available on the UCLA Transportation website and will also be sent out to students through a campuswide email, said David Karwaski, senior associate director of UCLA Transportation. UC, CSU campuses collaborate in new procurement system partnership

California’s two main public university systems recently teamed up to create a joint process for buying equipment, supplies and services across 33 campuses. The University of California and California State University launched a new software platform for procurement called California Universities Sourcing in December and have begun training for UC and CSU staff.
